Sleet, Moneta J., Jr.
(born: 1926 - died: 1996)Born in Owensboro, KY, Moneta J. Sleet, Jr. was the first African American to win a Pulitzer Prize in photography, given the award for his photograph of Mrs. Martin L. King and her daughter Bernice at Dr. King's funeral.
A photographer for Ebony Magazine, he covered African nations gaining independence. He also co-authored Special Moments in African American History: 1955-1996.
Sleet was the son of Moneta Sr. and Ozetta L. Allensworth Sleet.
