Alleyne, Delores Gordon

(born: 1932) 

Delores Gordon Alleyne was the first African American woman admitted to the University of Louisville Medical School, from which she graduated in 1957. Dr. Alleyne was born in Pulaski, TN, her family later moving to Louisville. She attended Louisville Municipal College for Negroes; when the school was closed, she completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Louisville.

Dr. Alleyne has taught at several medical schools; she retired in 1999 as a pediatrician with the Los Angeles County Health Department.
