Story, Nathaniel Edward "Nat"
(born: 1904 - died: 1968)Nathaniel E. "Nat" Story, born August 8, 1904 in Oak Station, KY, was the son of Ephriam Story. Nat was a trombonist who performed on riverboats with Floyd Campbell and Kentucky native Fate Marable.
Story moved to New York in the 1930s and played with a number of bands, including recording with Luis Russell's and Chick Webb's bands. In the 1940s, Story played with the bands of Lucky Millinder and Kentucky native Andy Kirk. He can be heard playing on the recordings Stompin' at the Savoy, A-tisket A-tasket, and Strictly Jive.
Nat Story was a veteran of World War II. He was living in Evansville, IN when he died on November 22, 1968 [source: Indiana Medical Certificate of Death #68 043479]. He is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville.
