Swope, William "Bill", Jr.

In April 2008, Bill Swope became the first African American to be named the State Fire Marshal for Kentucky. The appointment was made by Governor Steven Beashear. At the time of the appointment, Bill Swope was a 23 year veteran of the Lexington Division of Fire and Emergency Services.
