Emma Smith was living in Lincoln County, KY, when she enlisted in the Army in Cincinnati, OH, according to her record in Ancestry and the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases. After her military service, Emma M. Smith settled in Dayton, OH, where she died in 2020. She is buried in the Dayton National Cemetery. She was the wife of Willie C. Stanley; they were married in Dayton in 1980. She was the daughter of Virgil and Jesse Dunn Smith. The family is enumerated in the 1930 U.S. Census, they lived in Stanford, KY. In the 1940 U.S. Census, Emma Smith was employed as a housemaid.
