Vivian Steward was born in Louisville, KY, the daughter of George and Ella Graves Steward. She was living in Ohio when she enlisted in the Army in Cincinnati, according to her record in National Archives, Access to Archival Databases. After her military career she returned to Louisville, where she was employed as a nurse's aide at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. She died in 1985 and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Louisville.
