Lena M. Warden enlisted in the Army in Cincinnati, OH, according to her record in Ancestry. She was born in Echols, KY and graduated in 1944 from Western Colored High School in Owensboro, KY. She received her diploma ahead of the commencement ceremony because she had enlisted and left school for her WAC basic training in Des Moines, IA.
Lena was the daughter of Pauline McLucas and Eugene Warden. The family was living in Evansville, IN when enumerated in the 1930 U.S. Census. They lived in Echols when enumerated in the 1940 U.S. Census. Lena later married Oradie Moss, Sr. and the family lived in Virginia. Lena M. Warden Moss died in Newport News, VA in 1981 and is buried in the Quantico National Cemetery.
