Helen Marea Norris was born in Mortons Gap, KY, the daughter of Louis and Viola Campbell Norris. The family is enumerated in the 1920 U.S. Census. Helen was living in Chicago, IL when she enlisted in the Army, according to her record in the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases, and in Ancestry. She was a member of the 6888th Mail Battalion.
After her military service, Helen Norris married Bennie Johnson; they lived in Chicago. She died in the Chicago Army Hospital in 1970. Helen Marea Norris Johnson is buried in the Flat Creek Cemetery in Mortons Gap, KY.
