Lucas, Dave

Born in Kentucky, Dave Lucas and his mother, Elizabeth Lucas, moved to Fort Lowell, Arizona, in the 1870s. He held a number of jobs before handling horses and becoming a jockey. He purchased a home, which is thought to be the oldest standing home in Tucson owned by an African American.
